Sex in Olympic Village

Sex in Olympic Village

Don’t forget your lube!

The 2024 Summer Olympic Games began on Friday, July 26, in Paris, France. And while the Opening Ceremony was on the minds of many—several people were wondering about all the sex that would be taking place in Olympic Village.

We’re here to take a look at the sexy activities that will be taking place behind the scenes.

300,000 Condoms

That’s a number that’s attention-catching, right?

For the Summer 2024 Olympic Games, 300,000 condoms were distributed in Olympic Village to 14,000 athletes.

This is a 180-degree turn from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where a sex ban was placed on Olympic Village, in part because of the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing.

Reportedly, condoms began being distributed to Olympic athletes during the 1988 Seoul Olympics, where 450,000 condoms were handed out.

This year, most condoms will be included in the toiletry gift bags that athletes receive. And in addition to condoms, 20,000 female condoms and 10,000 dental dams will be distributed as well.

What happens in the Village…

Casual sex is reportedly so rampant in the Olympic Village that some athletes have joked that there really should be a second Olympic Motto that addresses it.

And many athletes have shared that sex is, well, everywhere.

Ryan Lochte, Team USA swimmer who competed in Athens in 2004, said, “I’d say it’s 75 percent of Olympians having sex.”

Team USA goalkeeper, Hope Solo, mirrored Lochte’s statement with her own, “There’s a lot of people having sex right out in the open. On the grass, between buildings, people getting down and dirty.”

Which, if they’re getting sexy outside, it could be because of the infamous ‘Anti-Sex’ cardboard beds that are inside.

Cardboard Beds

The cardboard beds in Olympic Village are back!

The beds consist of three cardboard modules that fit together and are all one hundred percent made in France. The goal with these beds was to make them sustainable and they are planned to be fully recycled after the games are complete.

While the beds are known to be uncomfortable, they’re also impractical with an estimated 70-75 percent of athletes participating in sexual activities.

Reportedly, athletes have two days after the closing ceremony until they are asked to leave Athletes Village—which means sexual appetites may not be satiated until then.

Condoms work Better with Lube!

Lubricant reduces friction, which can help prevent condoms from tearing or ripping.

Lubricants can also increase comfort and pleasure by reducing friction and helping to prevent skin irritation. And, of course, extra lubrication is helpful for anyone experiencing dry, sensitive intimate areas.

And although many condoms come self-lubricated, they rarely have enough lubricant for it to be effective. That’s why—listen up Olympic Athletes and Olympic Fans—you should always have your Swiss Navy lubricants on hand!
